Group of top investors and fintech companies to promote policies that advance responsible innovation and inclusivity within financial services

CHICAGO – March 29, 2021Victory Park Capital (“VPC”), a leading global alternative investment firm, today announced that it has joined the newly established American Fintech Council (“AFC”) as an original member of its investor group. The AFC was formed to be the leading unified voice of the fintech industry, bringing together the most responsible industry actors to promote policies that advance responsible innovation and inclusivity within financial services.

“With over 14 years of experience making debt and equity investments in the fintech sector, we have seen the positive effects that fintech has had on increasing financial inclusivity for individuals and businesses,” said Brendan Carroll, senior partner and co-founder at Victory Park Capital. “We are proud to be a member of this important organization and join forces with others across financial services to help carry out the AFC’s mission.”

The AFC is the result of a merger between The Marketplace Lending Association (“MLA”) and Online Lending Policy Institute (“OLPI”). In addition to the existing MLA and OLPI members, AFC is also expanding membership to diversified fintech companies, digital banks and other financial services providers.

The AFC currently has 50 members committed to advancing pro-consumer policies consistent with its principles of financial inclusion, racial equity and embracing regulation to promote responsible innovation. AFC members adhere to strict self-regulatory standards established with non-profit and advocacy partners, such as the Small Business Borrowers’ Bill of Rights, and by pursuing policies that advance responsible practices throughout the market.
